APPROVING THE APPLICATION AND THE CONTRACT FOR
HISTORIC PRESERVATION SURVEY FUNDS FOR THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA
WHEREAS, the Congress under Public Law 89-665 has
authorized the establishment of a National Historic Preservation
Program, providing matching funds to the State of California and
its political subdivisions for historic preservation, survey,
planning, development and acquisition projects; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation is
responsible for the administration of the program within the
state, setting up necessary rules and procedures governing
application by local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said adopted procedures established by the State
Department of Parks and Recreation require the local governing body
to approve in writing the applicant's proposal and to agree that
all required local matching funds will be provided for the
project; and
WHEREAS, the same said procedures require the governing
body to certify by resolution the approval of the contract and the
availability of local funds to be submitted at the time of execu-
tion of said contract with the State;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that said Council hereby:
1. Appoints the City Manager as agent of the City to
coordinate and process all ancillary documents within the scope
of the attached contract and authorizes said agent to execute on
behalf of the City the attached contract, and all amendments and
modifications thereof.
2. Agrees that all local matching requirements in funds
or contributions of personnel and equipment will be provided for
the project in amounts not less than the amount of the grant.
3. Approves the attached contract between the State
Department of Parks and Recreation and the City of Alameda for
said City to conduct a local survey of architectural and
historical resources as designated in the attached. contract.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 7th day of February,
1978, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, and Sherratt, (3).
NOES: President Corica, (I)`
ABSENT: Councilman Tillman, (1).
