APPROVING APPLICATION FOR A CERTIFICATE OF CONSENT
TO SELF - INSURE AGAINST WORKERS' COMPENSATION CLAIMS
AND AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAME
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 840, effective January 1, 1979,
subjects public entities uninsured for workers' compensation
liability to regulation by the Director of the Department of
Industrial Relations; and
WHEREAS, said bill states that on or before March 1, 1979,
a political subdivision of the state which was uninsured on
December 31, 1978 for its liability to pay compensation shall file
a properly completed and executed application for a Certificate
of Conserit to Se1f-1nsure against workers' compensation claims,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda, upon filing said - Application
be grandfathered into the status of a permissibly self- insured
employer and a certificate will be issued;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that the Department of Industrial Relations' Applica-
tion for a Certificate of Consent to Self- Insure is hereby approved
and the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute said Applica-
tion on behalf of the City. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
attest to same.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the
Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
6th day of February, 1979, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Sherratt, Tillman,
and President Corica, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
