URGING ALL RESIDENTS OF ALAMEDA TO PARTICIPATE IN
THE 20TH DECENNIAL CENSUS OF POPULATION AND HOUSING
WHEREAS, on April 1, 1980, the 20th Decennial Census
of Population and Housing will begin; and
WHEREAS, the results of this Census will be used for
congressional reapportionment and redistricting State
legislatures and local governmental bodies; and
WHEREAS, the results of this Census will be used for
the allocation of Federal and State funds; and
WHEREAS, The Census Bureau estimates that in the 1970
Census a great many residents of the country failed to be
counted; and
WHEREAS, this failure to be counted creates an error
which has a great impact on local governments and on the
political structure of the nation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA that said Council urges all residents of
Alameda to participate in this Federal Census; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the week of March 24, 1980,
is hereby proclaimed as "Census Participation Week for the
20th Decennial Census".
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the
Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on
the 18th day of March, 1980, by the followina vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Sherratt, Stone,
Tillman and President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
