DESIGNATING CERTAIN LANDS IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
AS "GERALDINE T. LEYDECKER PARK"
WHEREAS, the Alameda Recreation Commission has considered
proposed names for the new park on Mecartney Road on Bay Farm
Island in the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, said Commission has recommended to the City Council
that said park be named "Geraldine T. Leydecker Park "; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine T. Leydecker began her career in the
City's Recreation Department as a "Substitute Director" in May of
1931 and upon her retirement on April 16, 1959, Mrs- Leydecker
was "Supervisor of Recreation," a position with responsibility
for the recreation programs in all parks and playgrounds then
operating in the City of Alameda;-
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that the new park on Mecartney Road on Bay Farm Island
in the City of Alameda be and the same is hereby designated as
"Geraldine T. Leydecker Park.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted
and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in
regular meeting assembled on the 3rd day of June, 1980,
by the following vote, to wit;
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Sherratt, Stone, and
President Corica - 4,
NOES; None
ABSENT; Councilman Tillman - 1
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
