Resolution 09882CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO, 9882 URGING CONGRESS TO PASS FEDERAL HIGHWAY LEGISLATION FOR CONTINUING MONIES FOR STREET CONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION OF EXISTING ROAD AND STREET SYSTEMS WHEREAS, Federal aid funds are now eligible for use for street rehabilitation as well as new construction; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has a critical need for an effective street rehabilitation program and the Council has adopted such a program; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has a number of public road projects which would be seriously impaired if promised Federal funding were not forthcoming; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has a number of private developments which will represent significant increases in employ- ment dependent upon the development of road programs within the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that said Council hereby urges the California legislative delegation to support passage of continuing legislation for transportation funding to States and local communities prior to the September 30th deadline; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to send certified copies of this Resolution to Senator Alan Cranston, Senator S. I. HaYakawa, Congressman Fortney H. (Pete) Stark and the Chairmen of the Senate and the House Trans- portation Subcommittees of the Public Works Committee. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 7th of September, 1932, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Dia0ent, Gorman, Stone and President C0rfCd - 4.
