ADOPTING ALAMEDA EMERGENCY PLAN, DATED OCTOBER,
1982, AND RESCINDING ALL PREVIOUS CIVIL DEFENSE
AND DISASTER PLANS
WHEREAS, City of Alameda Ordinance No. 1676 N.S. relating
to emergency services, provides for the distribution of emergency
services powers and duties, the assignment of functions and services
related to the protection of persons and property within the
City in the event of an emergency; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said Ordinance No. 1676 N.S. there
has been established a City of Alameda Disaster Council; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Services has caused
to be developed necessary plans to provide for the distribution
of emergency services powers and duties, the assignment of
functions and services related to the common defense and
protection of the citizens of the community during periods of
emergency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA,
1. That the Plan, entitled "CITY OF ALAMEDA EMERGENCY
PLAN," dated October, 1982, be and hereby is adopted and declared
effective May 3, 1983;
2. That a current copy of said Plan shall be kept on
file in the Office of the City Clerk;
3. That all Civil Defense and Disaster plans previously
adopted by the City Council or by any agency or official of this
City pursuant to said Ordinance No. 1676 N.S., are hereby rescinded
and declared not in effect on and after May 3, 1983;
4. That said Plan will become operative by declaration
as may be provided by ordinance, or automatically in the event
of a State of Extreme Emergency as provided in the State of
California plans and directives;
5. That it is the intent ef this Council that the terms
and provisions of the Plan, its amendments and additions, shall
carry the full effect of law whenever such Plan is put into
force.
6. That the Director of Emergency Services be and hereby
is authorized and directed to adopt necessary additions, amend-
ments and corrections to the Plan, which additions, amendments
and corrections shall be in consonance with all laws, agreements,
regulations and rules relating to Emergency Services.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 3rd of May, 1983,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Diament, Gorman, 8herratt, Stone and President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT:None.
