AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF JOINT OPERATING AGREEMENT
WITH THE ALAMEDA CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN NATIONAL RED
CROSS RELATING TO NATURAL DISASTERS
WHEREAS, this Council, on May 3, 1983, adopted the Alameda
Emergency Plan to provide for the distribution of emergency
services powers and duties, the assignment of functions and
services related to the common defense and protection of the
citizens of the community during periods o: emergency; and
WHEREAS, a proposed Joint Operating Agreement between
the Alameda Chapter of the American National Red Cross and the
City of Alameda, describing the respective responsibilities
and roles of these agencies in preparedness plans and operations
for natural disaster emergency services, has been submitted
to this Council, and the Council is fully informed and aware
of the contents thereof; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of
Alameda that said agreement be entered into;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA that the City Manager, as Director of Emergency
Services for the City of Alameda, is hereby authorized and
directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Alameda,
that certain Joint Operating Agreement between the Alameda
Chapter of the American National Red. Cross and the City of
Alameda, State of California, providing for respective responsi-
bilities and roles relating to natural disasters.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 5th of July, 1983,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: CVuncilmembers Gorman, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
