AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION TO RECERTIFY THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA FOR ELIGIBILITY AS AN URBAN DEVELOPMENT
ACTION GRANT (UDAG) DISTRESSED CITY
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development has available funds for economic development activi-
ties through the Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) Program
for specifically designated and distressed metropolitan cities
in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda' eligibility to apply for
and receive UDAG funds expires on November 30, 1983 unless the
City seeks recertification; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has benefited directly from
the UDAG program in the form of increased job opportunities,
repayment stream to the City and elimination of a blighted area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that a request for recertification in the UDAG program
be submitted to the HUD Area and Regional Office before the
expiration date of current eligibility on November 30, 1983.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in a regular meeting assembled on the 1st day of
November, 1983, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Gorman, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President
Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
