COMMENDING JOANN LITHERLAND FOR HER CONTRIBUTION TO THE
COMMUNITY AND THE CITY IN MAKING THE FIRST ALAMEDA CITY FLAG
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda expressed their
desire to adopt an official Flag for the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, a contest was held wherein the community participated
enthusiastically with 260 entries which were reviewed by a panel of judges
who selected the design submitted by Don Ingraham; and
WHEREAS, THE City Council adopted that design as the official
Alameda Flag pursuant to Resolution N0, 10315; and
WHEREAS, JOANN LITHERLAND offered her services in making the first
Flag for the City of Alameda and worked diligently many hours; and
WHEREAS, dedication ceremonies were held on June 14, 1984, "Flag
Day", and the first Flag of the City of Alameda now flyS proudly over City
Hall;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council
Commend JOANN LITHERLAND and express appreciation to her for a job well
done which enhances the quality of life for the community.
L, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in a regular meeting assembled on the 3rd day of July,
1984, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Gorman, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
