RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA COMMENDING
LAWRENCE STICKNEY FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE AS APPOINTED AND
ELECTED CITY TREASURER AND CIVIL SERVICE BOARD MEMBER
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA records with pride the
long tenure of office of Lawrence Stickney, as Treasurer of the
City of Alameda for four and-a-half years and Civil Service Board
Member for eleven years.
WHEREAS; Lawrence Stickney was first appointed to the
position of City Treasurer on Dec. 23, 1980, and was subsequently
elected by the resiclerits of the City for a term commencing May
19, 1981; and
WHEREAS; prior to that Mr. Stickney had served 11 years as a
member of the Civil Service Board, 4 of which as President; and
WHEREAS; Lawrence Stickney has a long and distinguished
record of service to this community having served as the past
Treasurer and Board Member of the Alameda Boys' Club, past
Director, Treasurer and member of the Alameda Kiwanis Club, past
Treasurer and member of Branch 30 of the Alameda SIRS, member of
the Alameda Elks Lodge, and past Director and Treasurer of the
Bay View Estates Home Owners Association; and
WHEREAS; Lawrence Stickney spent the greater portion of his
business life in Alameda financial institutions which culminiated
in his retirement in 1976 from United California Bank where he
was Vice President and Manager; and
WHEREAS; Lawrence Stickney has demonstrated his loyalty and
competence in the assumption of -responsibilities and the
discharge of his duties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City
of Alameda hereby acknowledges with great esteem the many years
of outstanding service rendered by this faithful employee and
officer and expresses its gratitude for his sense of integrity
and devotion to duty in carrying out the responsibilities of his
office; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Alameda and all of his many friends throughout the community
extend to "Larry" their hearty congratulations on his
accomplishments and their best wishes for much hapOness in his
retirement.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 21st of May, 1985,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers, Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
