REJECTING ALL BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATION
AT THE INTERSECTION OF LINCOLN AVENUE /MARSHALL WAY
AND FIFTH STREET, PW 8- 85 -30, AND AUTHORIZING
THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO NEGOTIATE IN THE
OPEN MARKET FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID PROJECT
WHEREAS, on September 17, 1985 this Council adopted Plans
and Specifications P.W. 8 -85 -30 and called for bids for the
project, Traffic Signal Modification at the Intersection of
Lincoln Avenue /Marshall Way and Fifth Street; and
WHEREAS, two bids were submitted in amounts higher than
the Engineer's Estimate; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the project can be
completed within the Engineer's Estimate by contracting for some
phases of the project and the use of City forces;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that said Council hereby rejects all bids received and
opened on October 3, 1985, in response to its call for bids for
Traffic Signal. Modification at the Intersection of Lincoln
Avenue /Marshall Way and Fifth Street; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, pursuant to the provisions
of Section 3 -15 of the Alameda City Charter, the Public Works
Director is hereby authorized to negotiation in the open market
and use City forces as needed to complete said project.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 15th of October, 1985,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers, Corica, Hanna, Lucas., Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
