ADOPTING REWARD PROGRAM TO HELP COMBAT THEFTS FROM
AND VANDALISM TO PARKING METERS AND APPROPRIATING
FUNDS FROM THE PARKING METER FUND FOR THIS PURPOSE
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has experienced numerous
thefts from and vandalism to parking meters; and
WHEREAS, these criminal offenses have cost the City
approximately $50,000 in Fiscal Year 1985 -86 in lost revenues,
repairing and replacement of meters and labor; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has arrested
offenders and investigated the offenses, additional resources
are necessary to combat the problem;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that said Council hereby establishes a parking meter
theft and vandalism reward program to be administered by the
Police Department; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of $6,000 is hereby
appropriated for this purpose from the Parking Meter Fund.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 15th of April, 1986,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Corica - 1.
