RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO
VOLUNTEERS FOR THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
WHEREAS, Citizens and friends of the City of Alameda have
donated countless hours of their time to the City through various
City departments, and;
WHEREAS, the Volunteer Program allows volunteers to obtain
valuable experience and participate in government services, and;
WHEREAS, the dedication of our volunteers and the many
valuable services they perform enrich City government's efforts to
maintain the quality of life desired by the Alameda residents, and;
WHEREAS, because of increased demands for volunteer
services, the number of volunteers and volunteer hours have
increased by 27% this past year, and;
WHEREAS, the Docent Program/Information Desk Service
provides the human touch, allowing residents and visitors of Alameda
to become more familiar with City Government, and;
WHEREAS, the Volunteer Program acts as an information and
referral source for other non-city programs, and;
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to acknowledge the
contribution made by our volunteers and wishes to acknowledge their
outstanding and valuable efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that it strongly supports the City of Alameda Volunteer
Program and looks forward to its continued growth and the
opportunity to utilize the talents of the many generous people who
contribute so loyally.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the CITY COUNCIL thanks and
commends the devoted volunteers for their outstanding efforts over
the past years.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 6th of May, 1986,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament -
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
