AUTHORIZING THE EMERGENCY REPAIR OF SANITARY SEWER MAIN
WESTERLY OF 1901 SANDCREEK WAY AT LUM SCHOOL, PURSUANT TO
SECTION 3 -15 OF THE CITY CHARTER
WHEREAS, it has been determined that a serious settling of
earth has occurred, undermining the sanitary sewer main westerly of
1901 Sandcreek Way at Lum School; and
WHEREAS, the combination of heavy rains, the proximity of
the storm sewer, the adjacent house foundations, and the loose,
sloppy sand, and the school has caused unusual and costly problems;
and
WHEREAS, the cost of repair has been negotiated at the sum
of $53,215.45 and funds are available in the Sewer Service Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that pursuant to Section 3-15 of the City Charter, the
Public Works Director is hereby authorized to make such public work
without contract in the open market.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the expenditure of $53,215.45
for the subject sewer repair is hereby authorized and approved with
the project cost to be funded from the Sewer Service Fund.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 6th of May, 1986,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
