ESTABLISHING UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICTS #2
THROUGH #9 AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE CITY PURSUANT
TO CITY OF ALAMEDA ORDINANCE NO. 2212 N.S.
WHEREAS, at its meeting of October 7, 1986, this Council
set a public hearing for November 4, 1986, at the hour of 7:30
p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Alameda,
California, to ascertain whether the public necessity, health,
safety or welfare requires the removal of poles, overhead wires
and associated overhead structures and the underground
communication or similar or associated services within Under-
ground Utility Districts #2 through #9 comprising the area
hereinafter described:
Underground District Location
No 2 Patton Way, Phase II, and Thau
Way between Atlantic Avenue
extended and Eagle Avenue.
No. 3 Broadway between Blanding
Avenue and Clement Avenue
No 4 Intersection of Marina Village
Parkway, Mariner Square Drive,
and a portion of Mariner Square
Loop, behind the Tubes.
No. 5 Mariner Square Drive, North of
Marina Village Parkway.
No 6 Patton Way, Phase III, between
Eagle Avenue and Buena Vista
Avenue.
No. 7 Island Drive, South of
Mecartney Road, to Fir Avenue.
No. 8 Santa Clara Avenue between
Broadway and Everett Street,
Everett Street between Central
Avenue and Webb Avenue, and
Webb Avenue between Everett
Street and Park Street.
No. 9 West Side of Park Street, North
of Blanding Avenue, and
Blanding Avenue between Park
Street and Oak Street.

WHEREAS, notice of such hearing has been given to all
affected property owners as shown on the last equalized
assessment roll and utilities concerned in the matter and for the
time required by law; and
WHEREAS, such hearing has been duly and regularly held
and all persons interested have been given an opportunity to be
heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that said Council hereby finds that the public
necessity, health, safety and welfare require the removal of
poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures and the
underground installation of wires and facilities for supplying
electric, communication and similar or associated services; and
further finds that the streets, roads or right of way in the
Districts are extensively used by the general public and carry a
heavy volume of pedestrian or vehicular traffic and hereby
declares that the above described areas are established as
Underground Utility Districts #2 through #9, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all poles, overhead wires and
associated overhead structures shall be removed and underground
installations made in each underground utility district within
the following times:
1. Underground installations by utility companies
property owners and reconnections not later than 12 months
commencement of the work in Districts No 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
and
after

2. Underground installations by utility companies and
property owners and reconnections not later than 18 months after
commencement of the work in District Noe 8.
3. Removal of poles, overhead wires
overhead structures not later than 16 months

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
instructed to mail, within ten (10) days after the adoption of
this resolution, a copy hereof and a copy of Ordinance No 2212
N.S. to affected property owners as such are shown on the last
equalized roll and to the affected utilities.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 4th of November, 1986,
by the following vote to wit:

NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
