DECLARING THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 17 TO NOVEMBER 22, 1986
"WINTER STORM PREPAREDNESS WEEK"
WHEREAS, California has in the recent past suffered
severe winters which have resulted in deaths, injuries, and
extensive property damage; and
WHEREAS, a severe winter this year could adversely affect
the entire state, particularly those forested watershed areas
which suffered recent fire damage; and
WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is an important function
of government to which many public servants dedicate their
conscientious efforts; and
WHEREAS, under the coordination of the State Office of
Emergency Services and the California Department of Water
Resources, a number of local, state, federal and volunteer
agencies are observing Winter Storm Preparedness Week to educate
the public on this important issue;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the week of November 17 -22, 1986, is hereby
declared WINTER STORM PREPAREDNESS WEEK, and all residents are
urged to learn what to do to prevent deaths, injuries, and
extensive property damage.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda will
provide its residents, including school children and disabled
persons, appropriate Storm Preparedness information, not only
during this special week, but throughout the year.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 18th of November, 1986,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas,
Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
