ORDERING THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE GOVERNING BOARD
MEMBER ELECTION OF THE PERALTA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
DISTRICT OF ALAMEDA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, TO BE
HELD ON APRIL 21, 1987, WITH THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA ON THE SAME
DATE INSOFAR AS THE TERRITORY IN WHICH SAID ELECTIONS
ARE TO BE HELD IS THE SAME
WHEREAS, the Education Code of the State of California
permits a governing board member election to be held in the
Peralta Community College District of Alameda County, State of
California, on April 21, 1987; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of said Peralta Community
College District and the County Superintendent of Schools of
Alameda County have requested that the Council of the City of
Alameda order the consolidation of said district governing board
member election with the General Municipal Election to be held on
April 21, 1987, in the City of Alameda, insofar as the territory
is the same, i.e., within the boundaries of the Alameda Unified
School District (said Alameda Unified School District being
entirely within the boundaries of the City of Alameda and
constituting a part of said community college district), and to
canvass the returns of said governing board member election; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Council it is to the best
interests of the public and authorized by law that said district
governing board member election be consolidated with said General
Municipal Election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the governing board member election called and to
be held on April 21, 1987, in said Peralta Community College
District of Alameda County shall be and the same is hereby
consolidated with the General Municipal Election to be held on
said date in the City of Alameda, insofar as the territory in
which said elections are to be held is the same, to wit, within
the boundaries of the Alameda Unified School District of Alameda
County, State of California.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that within the territory affected
by this order of consolidation, to wit, within the boundaries of
said Alameda Unified School district, the election precincts,
polling places and voting booths shall in every case be the same
as those to be established and provided for said General
Municipal Election and that the election officers in each
precinct shall in every case be the same, to wit, the election
officers to be appointed by the Council, that the names of

candidates for the office of governing board members of said
Peralta Community College District shall be set forth on the
ballots provided for said General Municipal Election, that all
proceedings had in the premises shall be recorded in one set of
election papers, that the elections shall be held in all respects
as though there were only one election, and that the returns of
said governing board member election shall be canvassed by the
Council, all as provided in Chapter 4 of Part 2 of Division 14 of
the Elections Code of the State of California;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when the result of said
governing board member election is ascertained, the City Clerk is
hereby authorized and directed to certify the same to the County
Superintendent of Schools of Alameda County, State of California,
and to the Board of Trustees of said Peralta Community College
District;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is
hereby instructed to include in the sample ballots and in the
official ballots for said General Municipal Election to be
submitted to the voters of said Peralta Community College
,- District residing within the said Alameda Unified School District
the names of the candidates for the office of governing board
members of said Peralta Community College District;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is
hereby authorized and directed to forward one (1) certified copy
of this resolution to the Board of Trustees of Peralta Community
College District and three (3) certified copies of this
resolution to the County Superintendent of Schools of Alameda
County.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 6th of January, 1987,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef
and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
