CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11157
AUTHORIZING FILING OF A REVISED CLAIM WITH THE METROPOLITAN TRANS-
PORTATION COMMISSION FOR ALLOCATION OF TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT
ACT /STATE TRANSIT ASSISTANT FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1986 -87
WHEREAS, the Transportation Development Act (TDA), (Public
Utility Code Sec. 99200 et seq.), provides for the disbursement of
funds from the Local Transportation Fund of the County of Alameda
for use by eligible claimants for the purpose of paratransit services
for the frail elderly and handicapped; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the TDA, and pursuant
to the applicable rules and regulations thereunder (21 California
Administrative Code Sec. 6600 et seq.) a prospective claimant wishing
to receive an allocation from the Local Transportation Fund shall file
its claim with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission; and
WHEREAS, the State Transit Assistance (STA) fund is created
pursuant to Pub. Util. Code Sec. 99314.5 for allocation to eligible
claimants to support approved transit projects; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda is an eligible claimant for
TDA and STA funds pursuant to Pub. Util. Code Sec. 99200 as attested
by the City of Alameda's opinion of counsel dated March 18, 1986; and
WHEREAS, additional TDA funds from the Local Transportation
Fund of Alameda County STA funds will be required by claimant in
Fiscal Year 1986 -87 for paratransit services for the frail elderly
and handicapped;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the City Manager or his designee is authorized to
execute and file a revised claim for $13,000.00 in additional
TDA 4.5 funds together with all necessary supporting documents, with
the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for an allocation of TDA
and STA funds in Fiscal Year 1986 -87; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in con-
junction with the filing of the claim; and the Metropolitan Transportation
Commission be requested to grant the allocations of funds as specified
herein.

AWARDING CONTRACT TO WEST STAR DISTRIBUTORS FOR TURF
SCOOTER FOR PARKS DIVISION OF THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT
AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION THEREOF
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda heretofore
published notice calling for bids for a turf scooter for the
Parks Division of the Recreation Department in accordance with
Specifications No MSP-3-87-1 approved March 3, 1987; and
WHEREAS, in response to said notice a sealed bid was
submitted by West Star Distributors agreeing to furnish said turf
scooter in accordance with said Specifications for the sum of
$6,073.32; and
WHEREAS, said firm is a responsible bidder and its
proposal was the single qualified bid received;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Alameda that the bid of West Star Distributiors is hereby
accepted, the contract for a turf scooter for Parks Division of
the Recreation Department is hereby awarded to said bidder, and
the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to
attest, said contract on behalf of the City of Alameda.

VOLUNTEERS FOR THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
WHEREAS, the volunteers for the City of Alameda, through their
contributions and outstanding service have met the needs of the community,
and;
WHEREAS, the Volunteer Program has given the volunteers an opportunity
for personal growth and a rewarding experience by being involved in serving
their city, and;
WHEREAS, the dedication of these volunteers and the many services they
perform have contributed significantly to the duality of life desired by
Alameda residents, and;
WHEREAS, because of the continued need for volunteer services, the
number of volunteers, and donated hours have achieved a record increase of
34%, and;
WHEREAS, the Information Desk, the Docent Program and the City Hall
tours continue to flourish by making available to the community information
concerning the City, and;
WHEREAS, the Volunteer Program continues to provide information and
placement of concerned citizens to the private and public agencies in need
of volunteer services, and;
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to acknowledge the dedication and
total committment of the volunteers in sustaining the high standards of the
Volunteer Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
that it continues to support the City of Alameda Volunteer Program with
pride and looks forward to its continued growth and the opportunity to
utilize the talents of the many generous people who contribute so loyally.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the CITY COUNCIL thanks and commends the
Nevoted volunteers for their outstanding efforts over the past years.
