AUTHORIZING JOINT REQUEST FOR BID PROPOSALS AND
APPROVAL OF SPECIFICATIONS THEREFORE FOR A NEW
TELEPHONE SYSTEM WITH THE ALAMEDA UNIFIED SCHOOL
DISTRICT, AND DIRECTING CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE
SAME
WHEREAS, on September 16, 1986, the Alameda City Council
approved a joint contract between Westin Engineering, the City of
Alameda, the Alameda Unified School District and the Bureau of
Electricity to hire a consultant to evaluate the joint telephone
system capabilities, define future needs and make recommendations
for upgrading of the existing telephone systems; and
WHEREAS, on April 28, 1987, the Phase I report was
presented to Council; and
WHEREAS, Alternative 2, purchase of one large
PABX to service both the City of Alameda and the Alameda Unified
School District, was approved by Council as being the most
appropriate for the City's future needs; and
WHEREAS, a Request for Proposal to provide technical
specifications for a new telephone system to be a joint venture
between the City of Alameda and the Alameda Unified School
District has been prepared by Westin Engineering and filed in the
office of the City Clerk; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that a joint request for bid proposals and technical
specifications for a new joint telephone system with the Alameda
Unified School District is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Alameda will receive proposals up to the hour of 2:01 o'clock
p.m. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1987, in accordance with said Request
for Proposal. Proposals must be presented to the City Clerk, in
the City Hall, in Alameda, California, under sealed cover and
plainly marked on the outside "Proposal for a new telephone
system for the City of Alameda and the Alameda Unified School"
District," or similar designation.
The right is reserved to reject any or all bids. Said
Request for Proposal may be had by any prospective bidder on

jTl application to the Public Works Department, in the City Hall,
Alameda, California.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to advertise, in the
Alameda Times-Star, a notice calling for proposals, in accordance
with the provisions of this resolution and of said Request for
Proposal.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 4th day of August, 1987
by the following vote to wit:
