AUTHORIZING ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FROM THE GOLF
COURSE ENTERPRISE ACCOUNT FOR THE INSTALLATION
OF AN AUTOMATIC IRRIGATION SYSTEM ON TWO HOLES
OF THE JACK CLARK GOLF COURSE
WHEREAS, on May 6, 1986, the City Council approved a
staff recommendation to hire Russell D.. Mitchell and Associates,
Inc., Irrigation Consultants, to design an irrigation master plan
for the Jack Clark Course;
WHEREAS, the present method of watering the fairways,
greens and roughs on the Clark Course is by manual placement of
sprinklers in quick couplers which were installed over
twenty -five years ago; and
WHEREAS, the existing irrigation pipe has deteriorated
and the fairways have gradually settled on the dump filled areas,
which are now causing frequent breaks and leaks requiring a
considerable amount of staff time to make repairs; and
WHEREAS, a new automatic irrigation system will improve
watering efficiency, save "down time11 in relation to repairing
breaks and leaks and reduce staff hours now required for night
watering.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the first phase of the installation of an
automatic irrigation system on two holes of the Jack Clark
Course is hereby approved and the sum of $69,500 is hereby
allocated from the Golf Course Enterprise Account to fund this
project.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 6th of October, 1987,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Haugner, Monsef, Thomas
and President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
