Resolution 11315CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11315
IN SUPPORT OF MEASURE C WHICH WILL INCREASE THE
COUNTY'S APPROPRIATIONS LIMIT AS ALLOWED BY
ARTICLE XIII B OF THE CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Alameda has called a special election to be held on November 3,
1987, for the purpose of submitting to the voters of Alameda
County the question of whether an ordinance submitted by the
Board of Supervisors of Alameda County to the voters of Alameda
County shall be approved in order to increase the county's
appropriations limit as allowed by Article XIII B of the
California Constitution to provide for county services and to
secure existing sources of state funding that may otherwise be
lost to other counties in the state.
WHEREAS, the proposed ordinance does not authorize the
Board of Supervisors to increase the property tax rate or any
other taxes within Alameda County; and
WHEREAS, passage of Measure C will keep existing tax
dollars n Alameda County and allow the county to receive millions
of dollars in needed state revenues; and
WHEREAS, Measure C terminates in four years and must be
resubmitted to the voters for any extension; and
WHEREAS, passage of Measure C will allow Alameda County
to continue to perform as one of the most cost- effective counties
in California;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that the City Council supports Measure C which will
increase the County's appropriation limit as allowed by Article
XIII B of the California Constitution.
1, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 6th of October, 1987,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Haugner, Monsef and
President Corica - 4.
NOES: Councilmember Thomas - 1.
ABSENT: None.
