DESIGNATION OF HISTORIC STREET LIGHTS AS A CITY HISTORICAL
MONUMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Ala has seven styles of historic street lights; and
WHEREAS, 1,297 of these historic street lights are known to still exist; and
WHEREAS, the local and national significance of these street lights has been
documented in the report titled "Alameda Historic Monument Nomination Report - Post-Top
and Pendant-Style Street Lights", revised October 1987 and approved by the City of A!ameda
Historical Advisory Commission on November 5, 1987; and
WHEREAS, the City of Al Historical AdviaoryCurnroiooiun,onNovcnnber
5, 1987, recommended the designation of these street lights as a City Historical Monument,
and
WHEREAS, this recommendation was based on the significance of the street
lights to the development of the City and the beauty which they contribute to the

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Council of the City of Alameda

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing.
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 17th of November, 1987,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Haugner, Monsef, Thomas
and President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
