Resolution 11349CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11349 AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO NEGOTIATE IN THE OPEN MARKET FOR HOLIDAY DECORATIONS FOR WEST ALAMEDA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION, PARK STREET BUSINESS ASSOCIATION, AND GREATER ALAMEDA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION AND APPROPRIATING MONEYS FROM GENERAL FUND RESERVES TO FUND THE PROJECT WHEREAS, three business associations requested that the City of Alameda help participate in funding holiday decorations to help improve the economic vitality of the business districts during the holiday shopping period; and WHEREAS, the business district will provide lighting around the shop windows and do extensive window dressing in a unified theme; and WHEREAS, in order to help the districts, the City will provide banners across the street, garland displays at intersections, and illuminated snowflakes that will be attached to electroliers; and WHEREAS, after extensive soliciting of proposals from decorating companies, it has been determined that Perine Decorating is the only provider that is capable of supplying the necessary decorations, installing, removing, and storing them; and WHEREAS, Perine Decorating offers a three-year payment plan, whereby the City would pay one-third of the cost each year plus interest. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that pursuant to Section 3-15 of the City Charter the Public Works Director is hereby authorized to negotiate in the open market for holiday decorations for West Alameda Business Association, Park Street Business Association, and Greater Alameda Business Association from Perine Decorating. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that the sum of $12,732 is hereby appropriated from General Fund Reserves for the current year contribution towards :this project.
