EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO STATE ASSEMBLYMAN ELIHU HARRIS
WHEREAS, Assemblyman Elihu Harris represents the 13th
Assembly District which includes the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, Assemblyman Elihu Harris sponsored Assembly Bill
1909 during the 1987-88 Legislative Session which provides
mechanisms by which cities may finance the payment of certain
judgements over an extended period of time; and
WHEREAS, Assemblyman Elihu Harris supported the League of
California Cities Tort Reform legislative package; and
WHEREAS, Assemblyman Elihu Harris sponsored Assembly Bill
181 signed into law by the Governor which prohibits employment
discrimination against the blind and those with other physical
disabilities to current employment rights; and
WHEREAS, Assemblyman Harris supported AB 937 which confirmed
city land use control over combined sales of alcoholic beverages
and gasoline; and
WHEREAS, Assemblyman Elihu Harris cast 29 key votes (68% of
his votes) on legislative bills which benefited the City of
Alameda during the 1987-88 Legislative Session and has
,.. demonstrated excellent leadership and receptiveness to the needs Alamedans.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City

of Alameda extends its sincere appreciation for the significant
<contributions that Assemblyman Elihu Harris has made to the State
)›- of California and the City of Alameda and its constituents and
o encourages his continued and increased support for the City of
Alameda.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 15th of December, 1987,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Haugner, Monsef, Thomas
and President Corica - 5.
