APPROPRIATING $2,000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVES
FOR AN ADDITIONAL SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD AT THE
INTERSECTION OF BRIDGEWAY ROAD AND PACKET LANDING
ROAD
WHEREAS, at their January 13, 1988, meeting the Manager's
Traffic Advisory Committee considered additional traffic control
for the intersection of Bridgeway Road and Packet Landing Road;
and
WHEREAS, the school crossing at the intersection has a
large number of students crossing, along with a high vehicular
volume; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has increased enforcement
there during times of student crossing; and
WHEREAS, police enforcement has helped although they are
unable to be present all the time; and
WHEREAS, an additional substitute guard has been placed
there and the two guards are able to handle the situation;
WHEREAS, the substitute guard is not available all of the
time; and
WHEREAS, the Manager's Traffic Advisory Committee passed
a motion to recommend funding of an additional crossing guard for
that location.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the sum of $2,000 is hereby appropriated from
the General Fund Reserves for an additional school crossing guard
at the intersection of Bridgeway Road and Packet Landing Road.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 2nd of February, 1988,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Haugner, Thomas and President Corica - 3.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmembers Camicia and Monsef - 2.
