ENCOURAGING THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE TO
AWARD AN EXPANSION FRANCHISE TO THE OAKLAND-
ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM TO SERVE FANS OF THE
CITIES AND COUNTIES OF ALAMEDA AND CONTRA
COSTA
WHEREAS, football is one of America's favorite sports
pastimes, whether as participants or fans, and
WHEREAS, fans from our community have in the past enjoyed
the benefits of attending games or watching televised sportscasts
of one of professional football's most exciting and successful
teams right here in the East Bay, and
WHEREAS, fans from our community are looking forward to
and are eager for the early return of professional football to
the East Bay.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that this community encourages the early return of a
National Football League team to the Oakland - Alameda County
Coliseum so that our fans can once again enjoy exciting
professional football.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
forwarded to the Oakland /East Bay NFL Expansion Committee for
their use in support of the franchise expansion effort.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 6th of September, 1988,
by the following vote to wit:

and President Corica - 5.
