AUTHORIZING OPEN MARKET PURCHASE OF COMMUNICATIONS
EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, in order for the Police Department to maintain
effective radio communication capabilities, it is necessary to
replace older portable radios which are broken and would not be
cost effective to repair; and
WHEREAS, there are funds available in the Police
Department Equipment Replacement Budget for the purchase of
replacement police portable radios; and
WHEREAS, Motorola is the only company that can provide
the necessary radio equipment and compatibility with the present
public safety communications system, reliable maintenance and
availability of parts; and
WHEREAS, the portable radios provided by Motorola are
the best choice for police class communications equipment
available to the City at this time
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that pursuant to Section 3-15 of the City Charter the
Police Department, in cooperation with the City Purchasing Agent,
is hereby authorized to purchase four (4) portable radios from
Motorola at a unit price of $9,844 (including 7% tax).
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 6th of September, 1988,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Monsef, Thomas
and President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
