ESTABLISHING UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICTS #10
THROUGH #20 AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE CITY OF
ALAMEDA
WHEREAS, at its meeting of January 3, 1989, this Council
set a public hearing for February 21, 1989, at the hour of 7:30
p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Alameda,
California, to ascertain whether the public necessity, health,
safety or welfare requires the removal of poles, overhead wires and
associated overhead structures and the underground communication or
similar or associated services within Underground Utility Districts
#10 through #20 comprising the area hereinafter described:

and Alameda Avenue from Park
Street to its Western Terminus
at Alameda High School
14 Grand Street from Clement Avenue
North to Oakland Estuary
15 Central Avenue from Broadway to
Park Street
16 Westline Drive from Pole North
of Otis Drive to Shorepoint
Court
17 Eighth Street from Central
Avenue to Portola Avenue

Drive to Harbor Bay Parkway
WHEREAS, notice of such hearing has been given to all
affected property owners as shown on the last equalized assessment
roll and utilities concerned in the matter and for the time
required by law; and
WHEREAS, such hearing has been duly and regularly held and
all persons interested have been given an opportunity to be heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the city
of Alameda that said Council hereby finds that the public
necessary, health, safety and welfare require the removal of
poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures and the
underground installation of wires and facilities for supplying
electric, communication and similar or associated services; and
further finds that the streets, roads or right of way in the
Districts are extensively used by the general public and carry a
heavy volume of pedestrian or vehicular traffic and hereby declared
that the above described areas are established as Underground
Utility Districts #10 through #20; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
instructed to mail, within ten (10) days after the adoption of this
resolution, a copy hereof and a copy of Ordinance No. 2212 N.S. to
affected property owners as such are shown on the last equalized
roll and to the affected utilities.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in adjourned regular
meeting assembled on the 14th, of March, 1989,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia and Monsef - 3.
NOES: Councilmember Thomas and President Corica -
ABSENT: None.
