Resolution 11732CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11732
SUPPORTING THE NEED FOR A QUALITY HARDBALL
FACILITY IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
WHEREAS, current baseball fields in the City of Alameda
are multi-use facilities shared by soccer, softball, flag
football, etc. which make it almost impossible to provide
quality fields during baseball season; and
WHEREAS, the two primary fields at Washington and Lincoln
Parks have unrealistic dimensions from home plate to left field
and right field, respectively; and
WHEREAS, because of the above, when important games are
played, such as the annual visit of teams from Japan, they are
scheduled at the ball field in San Leandro, and
WHEREAS, for the past four years, construction of a
quality hardball facility has been a high priority of the
Recreation Commission; and
WHEREAS, development of the proposed facility would
provide a quality field for the Babe Ruth and high school teams
serving approximately 375 participants and would free up much
needed field space at other facilities, and
WHEREAS, a quality hardball facility in the City of
Alameda would be a complex that the entire baseball community
would be proud of.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that said Council hereby supports the need for a
quality hardball facility in Alameda.
