SUPPORTING THE MAIN STREET PROGRAM IN ALAMEDA
FOR FISCAL YEAR 1989 -90
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has determined that the four -point approach
for commercial revitalization, developed by the Main Street Center of
the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is appropriate for
implementation in the City of Alameda's historic downtown and
neighborhood commercial districts; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda Main Street Project, a local non - profit
organization exists within the City of Alameda to provide technical
assistance according to the four -point program of organization,
promotion, design and economic restructuring; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda Main Street Project Board of Directors is
responsible for the supervision of the Main Street Project Manager; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has since FY 1984 -85 granted funds to the
Alameda Main Street Project to carry out a local program of commercial
revitalization assistance to merchants, property owners and other
interested groups and individuals;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Alameda that the City supports and endorses a local Main Street program
and the City of Alameda's status as a Self- Initiated California Main
Street City for Fiscal Year 1989 -90.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 5th of July, 1989,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Thomas, Withrow
and President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
