AUTHORIZING A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A FERRY SERVICE BETWEEN ALAMEDA
(MAIN ISLAND) AND SAN FRANCISCO
WHEREAS, as requested by the Council of the City of
Alameda at its meeting of January 4, 1989, staff has prepared
a Request for Proposals for a commuter ferry service from the
proposed Alameda Municipal Ferry Terminal located along the
estuary near Todd Shipyard, to the San Francisco Ferry Building;
and
WHEREAS, the City's involvement is limited to providing a
terminal facility, parking lot, and float in Alameda and securing
a terminal arrangement in San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, said service which is scheduled to begin
operation by August 1990, will operate a minimum of four a.m.
peak hour runs and four p.m. peak hour runs and will be
coordinated with AC Transit service; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that said Council hereby authorizes a request for
proposals for the establishment of a ferry service between
Alameda (Main Island) and San Francisco.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that the right is
reserved to reject any or all proposals.
