AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A RECLAMATION PROJECT
USER AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AND
EAST BAY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT
WHEREAS, due to recent drought restrictions imposed by the
East Bay Municipal Utility District (E.B.M.U.D.) and continuing
deterioration of the existing wells at the Golf Complex,
alternative water sources for irrigating the golf course have been
explored; and
WHEREAS, the primary focus has been on drilling a new well and
utilization of reclaimed water; and
WHEREAS, said project consists of constructing an above ground
pipeline from the San Leandro Sewage treatment plant across the,
Port of Oakland property to the golf course; and
WHEREAS, said pipeline would be used to pump treated water
from the sewage plant to the golf course water holding ponds and
used for irrigation as necessary; and
WHEREAS, the long -term availability of reclaimed water at a
reduced rate will provide a very low cost and efficient means of
irrigating the golf turf; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into an Agreement with the
East Bay Municipal Utility District (E.B.M.U.D.) to provide
reclaimed water for Alameda Golf Complex landscape irrigation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Alameda that the City Manager and the City Clerk be, and each
hereby is, authorized and directed to execute and to attest to,
respectively, on behalf of the City, a Reclamation Project User
Agreement with East Bay Municipal Utility District.
