APPROVING THE CREATION OF A COUNTYWIDE BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN
ADVISORY COMMITTEE, THE REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION TO THE STATE
TRANSPORTATION CONTROL MEASURE REQUIRING THE FORMATION OF A
CITY BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE, AND THE
APPOINTMENT OF A REPRESENTATIVE TO THE COUNTYWIDE COMMITTEE
IN LIEU OF THE CITY APPOINTING AND STAFFING ITS OWN
BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the Transportation Development Act of 1991 provides
for the disbursement of funds from the local Transportation Fund
of the County of Alameda for use by eligible claimants for the
purpose of pedestrian/bicycle projects; and
WHEREAS, State Transportation Control Measure No. 9 requires
cities and counties to have bicycle advisory committees and
adopted comprehensive bicycle plans to be eligible for the TDA
Article 3 funding, beginning with the FY 1993-94 funding cycle;
and
4.to
WHEREAS, the Alameda County Transportation Advisory
v- Committee recommends, and the Board of Supervisors of the County
73 < of Alameda has approved, by resolution, that in lieu of the City
CD appointing its own Bicycle Advisory Committee, the City appoint a
representative to the countywide Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory
Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the creation of a countywide Bicycle/Pedestrian
Advisory Committee be approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Alameda's request
for exemption to the State Transportation Control Measure No. 9
(STCM No. 9 adopted by MTC on November 28, 1992) and the
participation in the countywide committee in lieu of the City
appointing its own Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee be
approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of
Alameda that Dennis Stone be appointed as the representative of
the City of Alameda to the countywide Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory
Committee.

was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 21st day of
