Resolution 123320 LL WHEREAS, the loss of river water rights would jeopardize 0 the drinking water supply of approximately 80,815 residents of the 4-• City of Alameda; and WHEREAS, a reliable water supply is essential for the vitality of the East Bay's business economy; and C) CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12332 SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE EAST BAY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT (EBMUD) IN ITS REEVALUATION OF MOKELUMNE RIVER WATER RIGHTS. WHEREAS, EBMUD is facing the re-evaluation of its Mokelumne River water rights by the State Water Resources Control Board; and WHEREAS, the East Bay Municipal Utility District's ("EBMUD") historic water rights on the Mokelumne River are in jeopardy; and WHEREAS, for the protection of City of Alameda citizens, public health, the best available quality source of water supply should be utilized; and WHEREAS, City of Alameda citizens have the right to expect the continued provision of high quality water; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Alameda supports EBMUD's Mokelumne River water rights in a manner consistent within the best interests of the citizens of the City of Alameda. BE. IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed and authorized to transmit a copy of this resolution to the State Water Resources Control Board and the East Bay Municipal Utility District.
