AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 12361
ESTABLISHING GARBAGE RATES FOR 1993
TO INCLUDE THE METHOD OF COLLECTION OF SURCHARGE
WHEREAS, the Alameda Municipal Code and the California
Government Code provide that the City Council may set fees for
reasonable costs of providing various services by resolution; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2476, passed by the City Council on
February 20, 1990, states that all subsequent rates for collection
and disposal of garbage and refuse shall be set by Resolution of
the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2629, approved by City Council on
May 4, 1993, modifies Municipal Code Section 21-2.6 Rates for
Collection; Method of Collection of Surcharge, to establish the
rate of surcharge by resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Alameda that City Council hereby modifies Resolution No. 12361 by
adding section (g) to include the following method of collecting
surcharge:
g) The scavenger shall collect on behalf of the City a :4
surcharge fee, and remit same to City within one hundred s3
(100) days of billing, equal to the following:
1. Eleven ($0.11) cents out of each of the amounts set
out in paragraphs a., b. and c. and twenty ($0.20)
cents out of the amount set out in paragraph d. and
e. as set forth in Resolution No. 12361. Ninety
(90%) percent of the funds shall be used solely to
pay the cost of sealing the disposal site and
monitoring gas emission (including monies already
borrowed from the Tideland Trust Fund) and ten
(10%) percent for seniors and low income assistance
(for costs of collection).
2. Twenty-five ($0.25) cents out of the amounts set
out in paragraphs d. and e. of Resolution No.
12361. The funds shall be used solely to repay the
funds advanced from the Workers Compensation Trust
and General Revenue Sharing Fund for the closure of
the Doolittle landfill site.
3. Twenty-five ($0.25) cents surcharge for citywide
cleanup set out in paragraphs a. and b. of
Resolution No. 12361 and twenty ($0.20) cents set
out in paragraph c. of Resolution No. 12361 for
citywide cleanup.

4. Ten ($0.10) cents surcharge for City parks garbage
services set out in paragraph d. of Resolution No.
12361 and twenty ($0.20) cents from paragraph e.
5. Discount of fifteen (15%) percent for apartment
units out of rates established for paragraphs b.
and c. of Resolution No. 12361.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall not become
effective until the effective date of the adoption of required
implementing ordinances.

City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the. 4th day of
