Resolution 12497CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12497 AUTHORIZING OPEN MARKET PURCHASE OF A MODULAR AMBULANCE FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the Alameda Fire Department has provided a Basic Life Support Emergency Ambulance Transport Program since August 25, 1984; and WHEREAS, the best vehicle for augmenting the Basic Life Support Emergency Ambulance Transport Program is a new 1994 Ford E- 350XL, Type III, modular ambulance; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 3-15 of the City Charter, the Council may determine that great necessity requires immediate action and thereupon proceed to purchase such supplies in, the open market; and WHEREAS, great necessity exists to acquire the 1994 Ford E-350XL, Type III, modular ambulance, enabling the City of Alameda to maintain the present high level of ambulance service; and WHEREAS, the ambulance vehicle is needed as soon as possible to have backup ambulance capability on Bay Farm Island in case of bridge delay or failure or in case the designated ambulance for Bay Farm Island is off the Island; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the Apparatus Peplacemenl. Fund for the purchase of a Type III ambulance; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda, by 4/5 vote, the City Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to purchase one 1994 Ford E-350XL, Type III modular ambulance offered by Arata Equipment Company, at the all inclusive cost of $69,922.80 or less in the formal market without formal bidding procedures. c / I the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 15th day of February , 1994 by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Appezzato, Arnerich, Lucas, Roth and President Withrow - 5.
