SUPPORTING EFFORTS OF THE EAST BAY PUBLIC SAFETY
CORRIDOR IN SEEKING TO BECOME A FEDERAL PACT
(PULLING AMERICAN COMMUNITIES TOGETHER) COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda is a member of the East Bay
Public Safety Corridor; and
WHEREAS, the East Bay Public Safety Corridor Project is
founded on developing a regional violence prevention strategy,
recognizing that crime is not contained by city. or county
boundaries; and
WHEREAS, Corridor member cities have examined the Action
Plan and agree to work cooperatively to implement the
recommendations contained in the plan; and
WHEREAS, there are federal funding opportunities
available for Corridor projects, which will be sought as a region
in recognition of our shared problems and commitment to work >,
together;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Alameda supports the efforts to the East Bay Public
Corridor in seeking to become a federal PACT (Pulling American
Communities Together) community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager or his
designee is directed to assign appropriate staff and resources to
assist the Public Safety Corridor Project to become only one of six
areas in the county to receive this prestigious designation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to
Assemblyman Tom Bates, Assembly California Legislature.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 19th day of
April , 1994, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Appezzato, Arnerich, Lucas,
Roth and President Withrow - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
