ESTABLISHING FREE THREE-HOUR PARKING FOR
PARK STREET BUSINESS DISTRICT METERS ON
DECEMBER 2, 1995, HOMETOWN HOLIDAYS
WHEREAS, the Park Street Business Association (PSBA) has
requested that parking meters in the Park Street Business District
be free during this year's Hometown Holiday Event scheduled for
Saturday, December 2, 1995; and
WHEREAS, PSBA has verbally requested that the park free
area have a three-hour parking time limit; and
WHEREAS, the Park Street Business Association would
realize an increase in sales for the Hometown Holiday Event and as
shoppers would be encouraged to shop on Park Street should parking
meters be free; and
WHEREAS, the City's loss of revenue from free meters on
December 2, 1995 may be offset by increased sales on Park Street
during the Hometown Holiday event; and
WHEREAS, parking meter fees, time limits, and holidays
are established in accordance with Alameda Municipal Code Section
12-13.2(a) and 12-16.4 respectively; and
WHEREAS, parking fees are established by resolution of
the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the City Council, by resolution, hereby suspends
meter fees in the Park Street Business District on Saturday,
December 2, 1995.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the meter free parking on
December 2, 1995 be limited to three hours.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Park
Street Business Association.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council
of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 21st day
of November , 1995, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, DeWitt, Mannix
and President Appezzato - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Lucas - 1.
ABSENTENTIONS: None.
