Resolution 12720CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12720 ADOPTING A DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING POLICY PURSUANT TO THE DEPARTMENT, OF TRANSPORTATION REGULATIONS WHEREAS, it is essential that City employees be mentally and physically able to perform their duties safely and efficiently, in the interest of their fellow workers and the public; and WHEREAS, accidents and injuries resulting from the misuse of alcohol or use of controlled substances by drivers of commercial motor vehicles are inconsistent with this objective; and WHEREAS, the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 requires that the City implement drug and alcohol testing procedures consistent with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda hereby adopts the City of Alameda Drug and. Alcohol Testing Policy pursuant to the Department cf Transportation Regulations, attached to the staff report from the Personnel . Director. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for covered employees, .LJ compliance with this policy is a condition of employment. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 19th day of December , 1995, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, DeWitt, Lucas, Mannix and President Appezzato - 5.
