Resolution 12731CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12731
SUPPORTING THE CITY OF TEMECULA'S EFFORTS
TO RECOVER LIBRARY FUNDING WITHDRAWN BY STATE
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Temecula has written
asking cities throughout the State of California to support its
efforts to recover library funding withdrawn by the State; and
WHEREAS, since its inception in FY 1985-86, the State of
California Public Library Fund support has decreased from 58% of
the program requirement to 18.6% of the program requirement in
1994-96; and
WHEREAS, this withdrawal of funding has resulted in
libraries not being able to provide basic services to citizens who
rely on libraries as the only source of diverse media available to
them.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Alameda that the City of Alameda does hereby support the
City of Temecula's efforts to regain State funding which has been
withdrawn.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to Jeff
Stone, Mayor, City of Temecula.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council
of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 6th
day of February , 1996, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, DeWitt, Lucas,
Mannix and President Appezzato - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSENTENTIONS: None.
