DESIGNATING THE MEYERS HOUSE AND GARDEN
A CITY HISTORICAL MONUMENT
WHEREAS, the Historical Advisory Board on May 1, 1997,
unanimously recommended designation of the Meyers House and Garden,
including the garage, pergola and studio, at 2021 Alameda Avenue
and 2018 Central Avenue as a City Historical Monument; and
WHEREAS, the building was designed and constructed by Henry H.
eyers, a prominent Bay Area architect, in 1897; and.
WHEREAS, the building is an excellent example of the Colonial
Revival style architecture; and
WHEREAS, the accessory structures - the garage, pergola and
studio - provide context to the site; and
WHEREAS, the building will be 100 years old in 1997.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda
to officially designate the Meyers House and Garden, including the
garage, pergola and studio, as a City Historical Monument.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council
of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 20th
day of May , 1997, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Kerr, Lucas
and President Appezzato - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None,
ABSTENTIONS: None.
