Resolution 12909E e A, WHEREAS, the -PSBA - may realize an increase in sales due to ree parking meters and shoppers would be encouraged to shop on mark Street should parking meters be free; and cry WHEREAS, the City loss of revenue from free parking meters may be off -set by increased sales in the Park Street usiness District; and CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12909 ESTABLISHING FREE THREE -HOUR PARKING FOR PARK STREET BUSINESS DISTRICT METERS DURING THE HOMETOWN HOLIDAY EVENT AND FREE TWO -HOUR PARKING DURING CLOSURE OF PARK STREET BRIDGE WHEREAS, the Park Street Business Association (PSBA) and the Alameda Chamber of Commerce have requested that parking meters in the Park Street Business District be free during each year's Hometown Holiday Event and when the Park Street Bridge is closed due to retrofit and maintenance for more than seven (7) consecutive days; and WHEREAS, the PSBA and the Chamber of Commerce have requested that the park free area have a three -hour limit during the Hometown Holiday Event and a two -hour limit during the Park Street Bridge closure; and WHEREAS, parking meters fees, time limits, and holidays are established in accordance with Alameda Municipal Code section 12- 13.2(a) and 12 -16.4 respectively; and WHEREAS, parking fees are established by resolution of the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that the City Council, by resolution, hereby suspends meter fees in the Park Street Business District during closure of the Park Street Bridge for more than seven (7)consecutive days and the Hometown Holiday Event. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the meter free parking for Holiday Hometown Event be limited to three -hours and meter free parking during closure of the Park Street Bridge be limited to two - hours. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Park Street Business Association and Alameda Chamber of Commerce. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 15th day of July , 1997, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Kerr, Lucas and President Appezzato - 5.
