AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR REGIONAL MEASURE 1
FUNDS FOR BOTH THE EAST END AND WEST END FERRY SERVICES FOR
FY 1998/99 AND ENTER INTO ALL AGREEMENTS NECESSARY TO SECURE
THESE FUNDS
WHEREAS, Regional Measure 1 (November 1988) created revenues
for allocation by Metropolitan Transportation Commission; and
WHEREAS, the monies can be used to fund planning, operating,
and capital projects, for water transit purposes which are
designed to reduce vehicular traffic on the bridges; and
WHEREAS, the public entities are eligible applicants; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda operates both a West and East
End Ferry Service;_ and

WHEREAS, staff has identified the need for,an operational ;40
subsidy for these ferry services and the need for a backup

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City
of Alameda does hereby approve the applications for both the East
End and West End Ferry Services for FY 1998/99 and authorizes the
City Manager to apply for Regional Measure 1 "Five Percent
Reserve" funds for operating subsidy for the East End Ferry
Service and to enter into all agreement necessary to secure these
funds.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on
the 16th day of June , 1998, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Kerr, and
President Appezzato - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Lucas - 1.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
