RESOLUTION (1) AMENDING MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AND
ALAMEDA MANAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES
ASSOCIATION; (2) ADOPTING A SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THE
OFFICE OF CITY CLERK; (3) AMENDING CONTRACTS BETWEEN
THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AND THE CITY
ATTORNEY AND THE CITY OF ALAMEDA; AND (4) ADOPTING A
SALARY SCHEDULE FOR FOUR UNREPRESENTED EMPLOYEES
[ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER, DEPUTY CITY MANAGER, HUMAN
RESOURCES DIRECTOR, AND CHIEF OF POLICE]
WHEREAS, there has been submitted to this Council a Memorandum of Understanding
between the Alameda Management and Confidential Employees Association and the City of
Alameda; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda has fully examined said proposed
Memorandum of Understanding, a copy of which is on file in the Office of the City Clerk, and
thereby finds and determines adoption of said documents to be in the best interest of the City.
WHEREAS, a salary schedule for the office of City Clerk has been presented to the City
Council;
WHEREAS, a salary schedule for the positions of Assistant City Manager, Deputy City
Manager, Human Resources Director, and Chief of Police ( "Unrepresented Positions ") has been
presented to the City Council;
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the salary rates, salary ranges and salary steps
in the salary schedule, a copy of which is on file in the Office of the City Clerk, and finds and
determines that it is in the best interests of the City to adopt that salary schedule; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and City Attorney are employed by the City pursuant to
employment agreements and amendments to those agreements are necessary and desirable to
effect the changes in salaries and to set forth the terms and benefits of employment for these two
appointed officials of the City; and
WHEREAS, proposed amendments to the employment agreements with the City
Manager and City Attorney have been submitted to the City Council, copies of which are on file
in the Office of the City Clerk, and the City Council has reviewed and considered these
amendments and find and determines that they are in the best interests of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda
that the salary schedule for the Unrepresented Employees on file in the Office of the City Clerk
and incorporated into this resolution by this reference as if fully set forth, is hereby adopted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that the
amendments to the employment agreements between the City Manager and the City of Alameda
and the City Attorney and the City of Alameda as set forth in copies of those agreements on file
in the Office of the City Clerk and incorporated into this resolution by this reference as if fully
set forth, are hereby adopted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that said
Council hereby approves and adopts the revised Memorandum of Understanding between the
City of Alameda and Alameda Management and Confidential Employees Association as set forth
in the copy of that agreement on file in the Office of the City Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the position classifications, salary rates, salary ranges
and salary steps set out in said Memorandum of Understanding are hereby designated as those
applicable to the respective classifications in the service of the City of Alameda effective
September 1, 2002.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on
the 1st day of June , 1999, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Johnson, and
President Appezzato - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Kerr - 1.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
