AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF SIX POOL VEHICLES USING
THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES,
PROCUREMENT DIVISION, COMPETITIVE BID AWARD
WHEREAS, replacement of six pool vehicles is authorized in the Fiscal year 1999/00
Public Works Department, and Building Services Division Budget; and
WHEREAS, utilizing funds from the current budget, six pool vehicles can be
purchased through the cooperative purchasing program, Department of General Services,
Procurement Division; and
WHEREAS, section 2 -61.7 of the Alameda Municipal Code authorizes joint
purchases with public agencies where the purchase is the result of competitive bidding or proposal
and is made in compliance with the competitive bid requirement of any participating agency; and
WHEREAS, the six pool vehicles are being obtained at the lowest price available
through purchase directly from Good Chevrolet, a local automobile dealer, and Swift Auto World
North, of Sacramento. A summary of the purchase is attached to the staff report presented to City
Council at the meeting of March 21, 2000; and
WHEREAS, S, the purchase of the six pool vehicles is the best option of equipment
available to the City at this time and can be obtained at a considerable savings to the City through
this purchase; and
WHEREAS, tiie Council has determined that all practical alternatives were examined-
and that these vehicles are the best option for pool vehicles available to the City of Alameda at this
time which can be purchased at the lowest price available using the State of California, Department
of General Services, Procurement Division, Competitive Bid Award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda,
the City Manager or his designee, in cooperation with the Finance Director, is hereby authorized to
purchase six pool car vehicles, using the State of California, Department of General Services,
Procurement Division, Competitive Bid Award.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on
the 21st day of March , 2000, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Johnson, Kerr and
Mayor Appezzato - 5.

ABSTENTIONS: None.
