AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT
A GRANT APPLICATION FOR PLAYGROUND ACCESSIBILITY
AND RECYCLING FUNDS TO
THE CALIFORNIA WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the Safe
Neighborhood Parks, Clean Water, Clean Air, and Coastal Protection act that provides funds to cities
and special districts to refurbish and provide accessibility to local playgrounds; and
WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has been delegated
the responsibility for the administration of the process and for setting up the necessary procedures
governing application by cities and special districts under the program; and
WHEREAS, providing accessibility and refurbishing of local play areas will benefit
the entire community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Alameda hereby authorizes the City Manager or his designee to:
1. File an application with the California Waste Management
Board seeking funding in the amount of $50,000 to be
matched with an additional $25,000 in City funds to refurbish
the playground area in Washington Park; and
2. Execute all necessary applications, contract payment requests,
agreements and amendments for securing grant funds and to
implement and carry out those specified in the grant
application.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on
the 2nd day of January , 2001, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Johnson, Kerr and
Mayor Appezzato - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
