RESOLUTION (1) CONFIRMING A LETTER AGREEMENT AMENDING
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AND
ALAMEDA MANAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION;
(2) CONFIRMING A LETTER AGREEMENT AMENDING MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AND THE ALAMEDA
FIRE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION; AND (3) ADOPTING A SALARY SCHEDULE
FOR SPECIFIED UNREPRESENTED EMPLOYEES
IN EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT POSITIONS
WHEREAS, there has been submitted to this Council a letter agreement between the
Alameda Management and Confidential Employees Association and the City of Alameda (attached
as Exhibit 1) confirming, among other things, that effective June 30, 2001, executive management
employees (listed in Appendix A to Exhibit 1)shall be removed from the Association's bargaining
unit and formerly unrepresented Alameda Power and Telecom employees (listed in Appendix B to
Exhibit 1) shall be added to the Association's bargaining unit; and

WHEREAS, there has been submitted to this Council a letter agreement between the
Alameda Fire Management Association and the City of Alameda (attached as Exhibit 2)confiiiiiing
that effective June 30, 2001, the Fire Chief position shall be removed from the Association's
bargaining unit; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has fully examined the letter agreements, copies of which are
attached and incorporated herein, and thereby finds and determines ratification of these letter
agreements to be in the best interest of the City; and
WHEREAS, a salary schedule for the unrepresented positions listed in Exhibit 1, Appendix
A and for the Fire Chief position has been presented to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the salary rates, salary ranges and salary steps
in the salary schedule, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein as Exhibit 3, and finds
and determines that it is in the best interest of the City to adopt that salary schedule.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that
the salary schedule for the Unrepresented Employees as sct forth in Exhibit 3 attached and
incorporated by reference, is hereby adopted, effective July 1, 2001.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that the letter
agreements between the Management and Confidential Employees Association and the City of
Alameda and between the Alameda Fire Management Association and the City of Alameda as set
forth in the copies of those agreements attached hereto as Exhibits 1 and 2 and incorporated by
reference, are hereby ratified.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the provisions of this Resolution shall supersede any
other resolution in conflict herewith.

This letter will confirm our agreement that:

A. Effective June 30, 2001, employees listed in Appendix A to this letter agreement shall be
removed from the Association's bargaining unit. Employees listed in Appendix A are exempt,
Department Head positions, which are and remain at -will, non -civil service classifications.
B. Effective June 30, 2001, employees listed in Appendix B to this letter agreement shall be
added to the Association's bargaining unit. Employees listed in Appendix B are formerly
unrepresented Alameda Power & Telecom employees, both exempt and non - exempt
classifications.
C. A salary Resolution shall be submitted to City Council within 30 days for its approval
establishing that the employees listed in Appendix A shall receive the same salary, vacation
accrual and benefits as they would have received had they remained members of the
Association's bargaining unit; further, that they shall also receive the same percentage wage
increases enjoyed by members of the Association, as the Memorandum of Understanding may be
amended from time to time.
D. The City and the Association agree to begin meet and confer on a successor
Memorandum of Understanding in the summer of 2002.
