AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING FROM ABAG'S REGIONAL
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM TO CONDUCT A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE
CROSS- ALAMEDA TRAIL
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda supports the development of infrastructure to
support non-motorized transportation and recreational opportunities in Alameda; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda supports the ongoing development of the Bay
Trail to enhance public access to the shoreline of the San Francisco Bay; and
WHEREAS, the Atlantic Avenue Bikeway is included as a high priority project in
the Alameda Bicycle Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City's General Plan supports the development of a greenway,
including a multi -use path, along the Alameda Belt Line right -of -way from Webster Street to
Sheuuan Street; and
WHEREAS, the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) has allocated
funding from the Regional Development Program for the purpose of facilitating development of
new segments of Bay Trail; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda wishes to apply to ABAG for the funding of a
project: $53,000 for a feasibility study for the Cross - Alameda Trail; and
WHEREAS, the City has $10,000 in funds available from Measure B funds to
provide local matching funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Alameda authorizes the filing of an application with ABAG for Regional Development Program
funds to carry out the project as described above, and authorizes the Public Works Director to
execute any necessary documents.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting assembled on the 4th
day of November, 2003, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, Gilmore, Kerr, and Mayor Johnson - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Matarrese 1.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
