COMMENDING ALAMEDA POLICE DEPARTMENT LIEUTENANT
ROBERT CRANFORD
FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA records its appreciation for
the years of service faithfully rendered by LIEUTENANT ROBERT CRANFORD for
the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT CRANFORD's career with the Alameda Police
Department spanned from September 16, 1977 until January 2, 2006 and included
the following assignments: Patrol Division Officer, Field Training Officer, Field
Training Officer Program Sergeant, Hostage Negotiations Team Member, Hostage
Negotiations Team Supervisor, Youth Services Investigator, Youth Services
Sergeant, Inspectional Services Sergeant, Patrol Division Sergeant, Patrol Division
Watch Commander, Investigations Commander; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT CRANFORD has made significant contributions to
the City of Alameda, among those being:
• Development of the Police Department's Role as a member of the
Alameda Disaster Council
• Instrumental in the development of the Police Department's Hostage
Negotiations Team
• Providing a bridge to community groups such as, Alamedans
Together Against Hate, and the Alameda Point Collaborative for
Youth, Children, and Families; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT CRANFORD was promoted to Sergeant on June 1,
1987, and to Lieutenant on January 2, 2002; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT CRANFORD and his wife Robin have two children,
Allison and John, and Bob plans on enjoying his retirement life spending more time
with his family doing volunteer work in his home community of San Ramon. In
addition to doing volunteer work, Bob will do some traveling with his wife Robin and
enjoy the life of rest and relaxation; and
WHEREAS, on January 2, 2006, ROBERT CRANFORD officially retired
from his position as Lieutenant for the City of Alameda's Police Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Alameda does hereby congratulate LIEUTENANT ROBERT CRANFORD for his
outstanding achievement in his service to the City of Alameda and to the profession
of law enforcement.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in the regular meeting of the City
Council on the 17th day of January, 2006, by the following vote to wit:

and Mayor Johnson — 5.
