CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 14877
AMENDING MASTER FEE RESOLUTION NO. 12191 TO REVISE THE FEE
SCHEDULE FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Alameda Municipal Code and the California Government Code
provide that the City Council shall set fees reasonable to recover the cost of providing
various services by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, at the August 27, 1991 Special Council meeting,
directed City staff to amend the Alameda Municipal Code to reflect that City fees shall
be set by City Council Resolution; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 12191 ("Master Fee Resolution") as amended,
codifies existing fees for various City services; and
WHEREAS, State law authorizes local governments to charge fees for services
based on the estimated reasonable cost of providing the service for which the fee is
charged; and
WHEREAS, the Advance Life Support Ambulance and Paramedic Provider
Agreement between the City of Alameda and Alameda County stipulates theCounty
establishes user fees the City can charge patients for emergency medical services; and
WHEREAS, The agreement states that the rates shall be frozen until Alameda
County’s Contract Private Provider rates exceed the rates described in the Agreement ;
and
WHEREAS, on October 15, 2013, after Alameda County staff found that the
existing rates did not cover the costs of the actual services provided, the Alameda
County Board of Supervisors approved an increase in their Private Provider rates and
as such, the City is permitted to increase its service fees;
WHEREAS, the increase in rates approved by Alameda County does no more than
necessary to cover the City of Alameda’s costs of the actual services provided.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Alameda that the user fees charged to patients for Advance Life Support and
ambulance transport services are as set forth below:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all fees established by Master Fee Resolution
12191 which are inconsistent with fees established by this Resolution are hereby
repealed.
